Old school and retro canapes are a popular choice for parties, office drinks and any event where you want to bring a sense of fun and nostalgia to the table. The menu has familiar bites from the 70s, 80s and 90s, served with the same care and attention as any other menu we put together.

The menu draws on classic Dutch and European party food, with dishes like ham and asparagus rolls, deviled eggs, Gouda skewers with ginger or pineapple, Dutch herring on rye, and of course old school bitterballen. Alongside these we serve a frikandel, the iconic Dutch deep-fried sausage that needs no introduction, and a spread of retro nibbles in white or coloured trays on the standing tables, including cheese crisp balls, salt sticks, peanuts and salty chips with dipping sauce.

This menu works well on its own as a full retro borrel, or combined with dishes from our Amsterdam appetizers or nibbles & small bites for a broader spread. Just like in the good old days most items are meat-based, but there are vegetarian options including the cheese skewers, stuffed dates and deviled eggs, and of course in these modern times vegetarian bitterballen are available on request.
