Amsterdam appetizers menu
Amsterdam appetizers and canapes draw on a long tradition of Dutch borrel culture, with dishes and producers that are rooted in the city and known throughout the Netherlands. This menu is our tribute to that tradition, built around iconic Amsterdam products and the kind of food that has been served at receptions and drinks parties in the city for generations.
The menu features producers with genuine Amsterdam roots: the Ossenworst from butchery Louman in the Jordaan, the modern dry sausages of Brandt & Levie, the bitterballen and kroketten of Holtkamp, and the classic liver sausage spiced with ginger and marjoram in the old Amsterdam style. Alongside these, you will find salt herring with dill and pink pepper, a canapé with goat cheese and lavender honey, and picks of Skeapsrond, a brie-style cheese, with green apple and date.
This menu works well for drinks receptions, office parties and borrels where you want to offer guests something with a sense of place. There is a vegetarian option in the Old Amsterdam cheese stick with Kesbeke pickles, and we now also offer vegetarian alternatives for the bitterballen and kroketten. For a broader selection, this menu combines well with our fish and meat canapes or nibbles & small bites.

Frequently asked questions
What makes the Amsterdam appetizers menu different from your other canape menus?
This menu is built around products and producers with genuine Amsterdam and Dutch roots. Rather than a generic canape selection, it tells a story about the city’s food culture, from the Jordaan butchers to the classic Amsterdam kroket. It works particularly well for clients who want their event to feel local and grounded.
Are there vegetarian options on the Amsterdam menu?
The menu is mostly meat and fish based, but there are vegetarian options. The Old Amsterdam cheese stick with Kesbeke pickles and cherry tomato is vegetarian, and we now offer vegetarian alternatives for both the bitterballen and the kroketten. Let us know your guest mix and we will make sure the balance works.
Can I combine this menu with dishes from your other menus?
Yes, absolutely. The Amsterdam menu combines well with our fish and meat canapes, nibbles & small bites or vegetarian appetizers. Many clients use it as the core of their borrel and add a few lighter bites from another menu to round it out.
Is this menu suitable for a walking dinner?
The Amsterdam menu works best as a drinks reception or borrel format, where it combines naturally with local beers. Some items, such as the bitterballen and kroketten, are warm and work best in that standing setting. The menu can be used for a walking dinner, but it would be a very informal, snack-style one rather than a structured course format.
